KIDS AND SPEAKING

Hello everyone!

Today I´m going to talk about kids and speaking. First of all I want you to ask a question:

If you don´t need to comunicate with others... would you learned how to speak? I don´t think so.

So, now we can notice that everyone of us, needs a reason to speak, and if you are a young children you can´t think this on your own, so they need someone who encourage language and speaking.

As a teacher, in class, we all need to help them to improve their language, so, for that, we need to think on activities in wich they have to talk, questions to encourage the speaking, and not just yes or no answering questions, and of course, we need to motivate them to answer and to speak in class.

another good ay to improve the speaking in class is to do a whole class speaking activity, or just to repeat or sing a song all together. They need to feel confidence to start talking, and if everyone is looking just for one person and waiting for this person to talk, children can feel uncomfortable. We need to adapt our activities, and we need to know and understend our learners. Maybe, if you know that one of the children are shiny, maybe you can ask for him or her if he os she wants to add something to the conversation. We have to addapt to thei learning development.

Other activity that we can do, is to divide the class in small groups, or maybe in pairs. This is a good way to feel selfconfidence and to try to comunicate to the others, and to improve the speaking in class.

We have to make a confidence and secure environment, an we have to adapt our rythm to our learners learning deveolpment. the same lesson can be very different depending on the class, so you have to know when, how and wich materials, activities or schedule are you going to use.
